Georgetown, TX – Williamson County

Population 54,898 // Official Website // Schools

Georgetown, the seat of Williamson County, is located 26 miles north of Austin. Established in 1848 as a trade center for the agricultural region, Georgetown’s economy still relies heavily on farming and ranching today, though tourism, technology, light manufacturing and retail also figure prominently.

Georgetown retains the look and feel of a small, charming community, but is only a few hours from the four major metropolitan cities of Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Main Street Project has brought about the restoration and preservation of much of the downtown’s Victorian buildings and landmarks. In the residential neighborhoods of Georgetown you will find everything from historic to ultramodern homes.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the city’s hike and bike trails, five golf courses, and 23 parks and recreation centers. Take a dip in the Blue Hole, a scenic lagoon on the South San Gabriel River. Pay a visit to Inner Space Cavern where bones of prehistoric Ice Age animals such as the mammoth and saber-toothed cat have been discovered. You can also make a day of it by visiting one of Georgetown’s award-winning wineries.
